If you are the type who likes to mingle with nature, romance the mountains, feel the tingling breeze, watch the leaves flutter and hear the birds chirp..then coorg is the place for you. Add to rhat a heady aroma of fresh coffee brew..lush cofee plantations, thats coorg for you. The locals refer to their land as 60/40...thats the length and breadth of coorg. Its the land of the brave "kodavas" a martial race who reveres tradition.

Aleppey is beautiful with a criss cross of canals but what is lesser known and breathtaking is the cootnad area of Aleppey. I drove to chenganassery yesterday...the road and the canals run parallel. This area is actually 4 feet below the sea level. It is water locked.In the not so developed parts of cootnad people still use boats for transport like we use cars and bicycle. Its a beautiful sight. You can get a glimpse of it in the pictures i have put up.This area is also called the rice bowl of kerala...green with paddy fields. Cootnad has its own strong rain connection. We waited eagerly for the monsoon to be declared officially even though it rained on and off here in Trivandrum and other parts of Kerala. For people in general it did not make much of a difference wether the monsoon was officially declared or not. They were getting their share of rain anyways. But for all of us on the Monsoon express it was a signal we waited for to start our journey with the clouds criss crossing the country.

Its been a couple of days that we landed in Trivandrum..the gateway to the monsoon in India.Though its been drizzling and pouring in turns here,the monsoon still eludes us.Rather monsoon here in kerala has decided not to be early but on time like always,the 30th of may or the 1st of June . 1st of June in kerala means the schools reopen after the summer vaccation and the children go to school with umbrellas as it pours sheets of rain.
