Day one of the festival, a retrospective of filmmaker Gurinder Chadha's work, the British born Indian filmmaker had brought Bhaji on the Beach to ther festival 16 years ago..though impressed with the festival's growth, the chaos was a bit put off.The Indian panorama with an interesting line up of films also marks the debut of four female directors, highligting the plight of women across the world, from Honour Killings to the Natha Pratha in Rajasthan

The 40 the edition of the International film fetsival starts in a few hrs from now, the invitation cards are no where in sight, nor is the brochure. Global Cinema apart even Indian cinema ignores its own festival. The debate continues should it move away from the hands of the govt to a corporate body? 3 years ago
