If nothing else, this has the potential to be competition for steam and will force them to start making some changes.

I have to agree with the poster's opinion, because it's my thoughts exactly!

Valve is slowly shifting towards a greedy approach to lure gamers into Steam, so much money is being flushed behind the scenes, consumers don't even know how much money they are throwing away using Steam's trading systems.

On the other hand, GoG Galaxy is essentially cloning the most appraised Steam features and embedding it as an optional consumer service. It's the best thing ever to happen!

I will be shifting to GoG Galaxy because everything is optional, and there will be no need to be online or even launch the Galaxy client ^-^.
Besides, GoG is all about DRM freeness, I just love that!

Too bad I can't transfer my Steam library into GoG's library :/
If I could, I would certainly say goodbye forever to Steam.

It's only a matter of time before Valve gets gets slapped with a multi million dollar lawsuit over allowing developers to kick players from games they have payed for. I have seen developers ban users from the forums for things as small as performance issues. The only reason Valve is now offering refunds is because the ACCC sued them. Anyways i had an issue with Valve back in 2008 where they threatened to ban me because i blocked session cookies on a fresh install of Windows xp. I had purchased a game which did not work and upon sending a ticket to support, i learned my account had been flagged for hacking. I threatened them with a lawsuit and only after my attorney sent paperwork to them, did they leave me alone about session cookies. It was at that moment, i realized that Valve was intrusive software. I posted court papers in the forums to which Mr Doug Lombardi replied to assure me that my account was ok. In the end it cost me $300 for court paperwork but i regret none of it. Today these issues do not exist because Steam will not allow you to log in without session cookies enabled.

I'm surprised you don't need a new keyboard after typing this click bait with so much spunk on your hands. I'm not the biggest Steam fan either but I'm an even lesser fan of intellectual dishonesty. And half of this diatribe was so factually incorrect it could be called out by every single one of your "annoying, foul-mouthed kids in DOTA 2." Aww. Was one of the other boys mean to you? Here snookums, let mommy give you a hug and make it all better.

Sitting here running your mouth about Valve being bad at their job, when you, a writer, fail to even spell check your work.

    "or the absence Half-Life 2: Episode 3"

Absent? Or absence of? Because what you wrote, is grammatically incorrect.

Nice click-bait title by the way. It's not as if you're deleting your Steam account like you imply.

    Thank You....

Thank you so much for putting this out here where people can find it. I've been looking for a Steam Alternative for quite some time. As I've seen in the comments, there are a few people yelling for Gaben, but, I mean... You'll always have fanboys and girls.

As much as all you said in the article is true, I also have a large problem with SEVERAL Steam policies.

    1. Any game you purchase through Steam is not owned by you, they 'allow' you the privilege to play them. (meaning you CAN be denied access to any game you purchase through Steam by Steam Moderators or the Developers.)
    2. The Steam Community has become very toxic (including the "Volunteer Moderators"), get on their bad side, and there's nothing you can do to stop it, why?
    3. Steam Support is so backed up, I've seen tickets left months untouched (I have one right now, as a matter of fact.)
    4. You can be banned for reporting a volunteer moderator for being rude to someone... BY THAT MODERATOR.

I don't understand how some game titles developed by the same company are relevant to the steam platform... It seems like a bias because he doesn't like ValvE games.
