This will add another 5-10 years before the Air Force will actually get the planes. Another set of politicians will pocket the kickback. Has anybody asked airforce on what they need and when ? If it come too late, and even if it's made in india , will serve the purpose ?
he is quite forthright in his comments ..he is clearly saying they want to bring some plane to india with old technology and he himself says that it will be limited sharing og tech . Do we need more brains to understand that buying a fifth gen pak fa from Russia will be better for us
how far we alienate Russia we donot know ..our primeminister has not visited Russia but he has travelled to even Mongolia ,really strange decisions .its hard to belive that US will be a trusted partner .The civil nuclear deal was signed years before but they did not make any compromises progress with india and very guarded about any decisions so far has not invested anything particular in nuclear field .. but it is Russia which has actually built reactors on ground . koodankulam is example ..There also American sponsored ngo's tried their best to scuttle that project ...Americans will be ready to supply weapons to us but at one point want india to depend on them and ally with them in their actions in SGC and elsewhere . Considering that we have 80 percent of our defence inventories from Russia we need to be careful when we make a shift to US products . One we are at risk of a trusted relationship with Russia on supply of spares and further contracts related to the existing machinery the other is slowly we will fuel a new deadly alignment of Russia Pakistan and china,where there is a possibility of loosing our significance as a power in the region .because US and japan are countries far away from us .... Russia under putin is a very different Russia we should do something to balance this relationship well ..
obviously india has lot of catch up to do since china is four times bigger than india, though india is four times bigger than pakistan. pakistan scientists are also allowed to learn and participate at CERN where new technologies are developed. being an nato ally pakistan army generals sends its best to top military colleges in uk, europe etc. which india does not enjoy. meanwhile chinese are busy hacking into western secrets and building their own copycrafts and selling to the rest of the world for cheap. pakistan have also access to chinese nuclear technologies. india must not be left behind in its defence of its assets.
